[EN-UK] GORE-TEX CROSSTECH® PYRAD® Stretch Product Technology - Related resources - Onepager

Technical rescue teams face unique risks, but many still wear heavy structural fire suits that limit mobility and increase heat stress. With fewer than 20% of callouts involving fires, a better solution is needed.
Gore has introduced the first lightweight rescue suit with GORE-TEX CROSSTECH® PYRAD® Stretch Technology, combining freedom of movement, breathability, and high visibility with certified protection from flame, chemicals, and bloodborne pathogens. It is durably waterproof and can be cleaned in a decontamination wash process.
The GORE-TEX Membrane provides durable waterproof protection from rain and inclement weather.
Allows sweat to evaporate out from inside the garment and keeps the wearer cooler during high exertion work.
Protects against incidental flame and flash fire and forms a self-extinguishing char to protect the wearer. The material remains intact and does not break open.
Prevents penetration from viral and blood borne pathogens in accordance with ISO 16604, even after contamination and 50 washes.
Prevents penetration of liquid chemicals to EN ISO 6530, even after contamination.
GORE-TEX CROSSTECH® TECHNOLOGY
CROSSTECH® technology is engineered to provide exceptional protection against bloodborne pathogens and common hazardous chemicals encountered in rescue and emergency environments. Its advanced membrane acts as a reliable barrier against penetration from:
Blood and body fluids
Petrol and hydraulic fluid
Battery acid and other corrosive agents
To validate this performance, GORE-TEX CROSSTECH® laminates and seams have been rigorously tested according to ISO 16604, Procedure C, using bacteriophage PHI-X174.
PYRAD® TECHNOLOGY
PYRAD® Fabrics provides durable flame retardant protection, engineered to safeguard users from incidental flame exposure. When exposed to flame, the fabric forms a self-extinguishing char, helping prevent injury by insulating the wearer from heat.
To evaluate its performance, Gore prototype garments made with PYRAD® Fabric were tested at EMPA laboratories using a thermal manikin test (ISO 13506). The test simulated a 3-second full flame engulfment at 83 kW/m². Results showed:
No dripping or melting
Only 7% pain prediction
Zero burn prediction
Material remained flexible and intact after exposure
While the test conditions don’t replicate every real-life scenario, they offer a reliable indication of protection in the event of an incidental flash fire. PYRAD® Fabric maintained its integrity and was easily removed from the manikin post-test, reinforcing its dependability in extreme conditions.
GORE‑TEX CROSSTECH® PYRAD® Stretch garments meet rigorous international standards to ensure reliable protection in high-risk rescue environments.
